I’ve been a freelance writer for a little over a year and I recently posted my goals for my business.
I’m pretty private with my goals. My husband is the only one who knows my business goals and personal goals. I’m definitely not a blabber.
But, this past summer I was ecstatic to take my business to the next level and I wanted to include my readers in on my journey.
December can be a slow month for many freelance writers.
Bloggers, entrepreneurs and companies slow down for the holidays, leaving many freelance writers with very little work.
This isn’t always the case though. My last December turned out to be a great month for my business. I landed a couple of freelance writing jobs and had consistent writing all month long.
For many new freelance writers, landing a client and earning consistent pay is a top priority (even for seasoned writers too!).
The life of a freelance writer isn’t always predictable and to make it longer than 6 months freelancing, you need to have a solid plan to earn more writing.
Sometimes that can mean re-evaluating your pitching process and coming up with better way to pitch.

Freelance writing is a great choice for stay-at-home moms, bloggers, aspiring writers and anyone who just wants a change from their typical 9-5 job. I started freelance writing when I was a stay-at-home mom and needed to find a way to continue staying home and raise my twins.

You want to transition or moonlight as a freelance writer, but you have no proof online that you can even write.
You’re stuck and have no clue what to do, even though you have years of reporting background or experience writing news stories for your local newspaper.
I see it over and over again.
New freelance writers making the biggest mistakes and then wondering why they don’t have any clients, or the clients they do have, pay them pennies.
They don’t realize what they’re doing is holding them back from finding easy ways to make money online and from growing their business and make a living from writing.

This post is late. It’s been a little over a year since I officially became a freelance writer in 2014. I’ve done a lot, made my fair share of mistakes and I know for a fact I absolutely still love freelance writing!
My passion and desire for blogging and creating content has not waned. If anything, I’m more excited at what the next year will take me now that I have my course Write Your Way to Your First 1k close to launching!
