Venturing into the world of being a freelance writer?
You’re ready to take action, move forward and get some awesome work from home jobs.
But wait –
Freelance writers come in all shapes and sizes from freelance bloggers to content writers, SEO writers, content strategists, freelance web content writers and ghost writers.
They offer a variety of services and different forms of writing.
When it comes to finding work, freelance writers are responsible for seeking jobs and making contact with potential clients.
If someone had told me when I first started out as a freelance writer that I would be making, on average, $600 a post, I’d think you’re crazy.
What?
People actually pay for words?
How the heck do you get your first writing job online?
You know you can write, you love writing, and you want to get paid for your writing.
So, why is it so hard?
Is working from home becoming more and more of a reality for you?
I freelance write and it’s the ultimate dream job for me, but it is still a job – and with it comes the same stress of balancing work, life and self care.
Honestly, in a lot of ways, it’s really no different than having a “real” job (except that you technically can work in your pajamas if you choose to!).
As a freelance writer, are you dreading finding a writing niche?
The age old freelance writing advice is to write what you know and to seek out opportunities that highlight your expertise.
Now, don’t get me wrong – that is definitely a great place to start, but what if you don’t know anything that is payable?
Feel stuck?
Have no idea what the first step to freelance writing is?
You want to be a freelance writer, but with all the blog posts or videos out there, you are suddenly overwhelmed. There’s just too much information.
As a freelance writer, most of you won’t have to use a cover letter to land a job.
But, there will be some job ads that specify a freelance writer have a cover letter to apply for that writing gig.
And with that, your resume and your cover letter can make or break the opportunity to land your dream job.
The other day I shared an old blog post on this blog to a writer that needed some advice on freelance writing.
I reviewed the post to make sure it answered her question and I was shocked!
My writing was horrible. I cringed at my writing back in the day.
While the post did provide highly actionable tips I could overlook the poor way I structured my writing.
Do you love video games?
I still love playing Super Mario Bros during my down time! Hey, this mom can play!!!
If you are a writer and an avid gamer, why not combine your two passions into a fun and lucrative career?
